Eyeing each other up... |
Life continues to be a whirlwind. The days are non-stop and roll into the next. It's exhausting but can be rewarding when I'm paid with smiles and little babbles. Too bad mothers don't get paychecks because I think we'd all be millionaires with all our overtime we put in! Both Cecilia and Hadley
had been sleeping through the night.
Had is the key word. It was 7 full days of glorious sleep but that is now a distant memory- an old dream. The girls are back to waking up once a night- somewhere between 2 and 4am. They are super hungry at this time so they aren't yanking me around. Hopefully this is just their 4 month growth spurt and we will be back to sleeping again soon.

Daytime napping has gotten worse as well. They magically wake up 45 minutes into every nap. That wouldn't be such a big deal if the naps were at the same time but they aren't. One will go down and the next one won't be ready to nap until 30 minutes later. I've been separating them so they don't wake each other up. I will have to find a solution to this dilemma as well but will have to limp by until the nights are mastered and they get a bit older.

Elise reading to Hadley |
Now that the weather is warm, Elise and Daddy like to play outside together. The other day she took a quick bathroom break and came back pantless. She said she was 'too hot'. After one pitch, she had to go back in to put her pants on before the game would continue.

Elise and Smoochie the frog before going to the Valentine Theatre |
We surprised Elise with a big girl outing... her first play! We bought tickets to see the Hungry Caterpillar, Papa Please Get Me the Moon and Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?. After securing the babysitters at home (Aunt Amy and her friend Rayna), we made a stop first for lunch.
We ate at Pizza Papalis downtown. Elise got to make her very own pizza table side- pepperoni and black olives.
The play was a hit-- along with the bag a Skittles. It was actually a puppet show done with black lights so you couldn't see the people onstage (they wore black). Afterwards the puppeteers come on stage to show off some of the puppets and explain how the illusion was completed. It was a magical moment to share with Elise. It was such a hit that we've since signed up for next year's children series.
Of course life doesn't stop because of babies and kids. We've been weeding and mulching our flowerbeds. I usually have a helper-- Elise has been collecting bugs in her bug box. But shhh... I secretly let them out every few days so they don't die. Soon it will be time to plant our vegetable garden!!
