Shh.. Don't Tell!

I am a very practical person... at least I think I am. With the twins coming, we needed a functional car that could easily seat 2 baby car seats and Elise's seat... plus our two aging dogs. I also needed a car that would allow me to get everyone into it quickly during a snowstorm or rainstorm without some poor child laying in a puddle while everyone else got buckled up inside. Alas, that meant only one option... the minivan!

Anyone who knows me knows that I swore up and down that I would never, ever buy a minivan! After all, driving a minivan would suck my last bit of adult individualism right out of me.

So, we test drove several minivans, along with some larger SUVs and the Honda Odyssey won as it fit my practical side.

But here's the kicker, it's actually nice! Minivans have come a long way since I was a kid. I now have a cooler for drinks under the cd player and a built-in dvd player for Elise (don't tell her... we are holding out on her!). Our old dog Garth can even get in without a stool.

Elise loves the car more than us. On her first ride, she had the biggest smile on her face. She thinks the doors are magical in that they slide sideways instead of swing open. Plus she can open and close the doors at a push of a button and I don't fear her chopping off a finger.

But remember, this is a secret! Shh..... I honestly do plan to go back to an SUV in 3 years and Jeff will probably revolt and get a two-seater car. But in the meantime, it's pretty nice. I won't speak for Jeff but he may agree too.

First Day of School!

Elise had her first day of preschool on September 5th!
It was a crazy day since we had a 2-hour fog delay. So, instead of going to school at 9, school started at 11.
We have a new school this year. Last year our school district was renting space from a church but this year all the Perrysburg preschool classes are sharing a building with Maumee preschool... in a 'real' school. It's exciting to have that school feeling.... or maybe I'm just a nerd! We have the same teachers as last year- Miss Gail and Miss Elaine. It's good to have familiar faces in a new environment.
We enter through door #5. The teachers come to collect the kids at the door rather than us bringing them into the classroom. Today when I dropped Elise off, she said 'Bye Mom. Love you.' and just walked away. What a big girl! Last year we would have about 5 hugs and 5 kisses before I left. This year she's like 'See ya!'.....
Elise was proud to be wearing a dress with a frog on the front....
