No Cavities!

Elise (and Boppy the lamb) had her first official dentist visit on Tuesday morning. She was such a big girl and a good helper-- content to hop up on the chair alone, have her teeth cleaned, polished, and flossed by her hygienist Cindy. She wasn't the least bit shy...

Here's Elise showing us how she brushes her teeth...

The final product: clean, shiny teeth. For some reason Elise isn't showing off the pearly whites. She took the whole appointment very seriously.

Of course daddy (I mean Dr. Kaiser) came to give the final check for Elise and Boppy. She was ecstatic to see daddy come into the room.I guess one of the perks for having dentists for parents is that you know ahead of time that you don't have cavities. Of course, Elise got a clean bill of health. Boppy did too. Keep brushing girl! She loves her 'toothpaste time'!
When the appointment was over, she cried. She didn't want to leave! I've never seen a child who was upset to get out of the chair! She told me this morning that she wanted to go back and get her teeth cleaned at 'the office'. I didn't have the heart to tell her it would be another 6 months!

Movie Date

Daddy took Elise to her first movie today. It's kind of tradition now as it was my dad who took me to my first movie (Cinderella). A local theatre hosts a child friendly movie outing once a month. It has the making of success for all children as the lights are still partially on, the sound is not as loud and it's ok for kids to leave their seats. Oh, did I mention you can bring in your own food and drinks? So, I packed a little bag full of goodies and drinks- of course the two couldn't resist adding popcorn and fruit juice as it was a special outing.

Another thing about the movie is that you don't know what you are seeing until it starts. It's guaranteed to be a new video release or a film that may have been out for a bit. Today's feature was Rio.
Needless to say, the date was a hit and Elise already wants to go back again.... as in after naptime. Glad to know it was a hit!

Goodbye Lucas County- Hello Wood!

Now that we no longer live in Lucas County (we closed on our old house), we had to say goodbye to all of the wonderful people who helped us in Help Me Grow- including our Thursday Playgroup friends. It was a sad thing to do as we had been involved with the program since Elise was first learning to sit. They offered so much support and education when we needed it the most- especially in those early days when we needed the help and intervention. They were apart of our extended family.

Unfortunately with a move to Wood County, we no longer will be able have their help (it's a tax thing). Instead, Elise has been transferred to our new county where their Help Me Grow program will help us navigate our way into preschool (Wow! A year away!). We met our new facilitator/early intervention specialist RN today. Lisa is wonderful and now will become our new advocate and friend. Elise thought she was great too!
Last day of Playgroup- Deb (early intervention specialist), Donise (early intervention specialist) and Mickey (speech therapist).
Elise also got a black eye-- although it isn't very noticeable in this picture. As Jeff likes to say, 'When Elise runs, she likes to see where she's been'. This means that when she was running one evening, looking backwards, she ran smack into a table. Thanks again for the support Boo-Boo Bunny!
So, how did you spend Winnie-the-Pooh's 90th birthday? At a party? The Perrysburg library had an all-day long birthday party--- complete with cake. We also colored birthday cards, wore party hats and made a Pooh puppet. Today after nap, I caught Elise singing Happy Birthday to Winne from her crib. So sweet...

Just to round out August, I thought I would throw in a few fun pictures. Afterall, life isn't always serious nor are we....Why does Elise only love pajamas with frogs on them? I guess if you look good wearing a nightgown, then just stand and admire yourself in the mirror!
These two crazy kids took a few zillion matching face pictures. This is my favorite though...
Not sure why this was outside the ice cream store but it was. How big does your head have to be to actually fill up that hole?!
Who says Elise has short hair? Looks long to me. You'll see this picture again at her high school graduation party.
Oh Boppy. We have to close with you. You are Elise's best friend, afterall. We only wish she would let you take a bath more often! Every other day isn't cutting it!

No crackers!

We showed up to speech therapy and saw this new sign on the door as Elise was holding and munching a cracker... so I made her finish it up outside before we went in. After therapy on the way out, Elise pointed to the sign and shouted (as if she was reading it) 'No crackers!'.

Loving Home

We are starting to get settled into our new home and are taking advantage of everything our small community has to offer! We are regulars at the Thursday evening farmer's market. Elise has memorized everyone who offers free samples and prefers to come hungry! We've also been frequenting the community concerts as well... dancing shoes a must! The classic car show was fun as well- afterall, there was more music and the streets were closed. Super cool to walk on the street and not get into trouble!
Even the infamous 'Boppy' the sheep attended the car show! Lucky guy!
Elise got to sit in a firetruck at First Friday... a night downtown filled with music, shopping and more food. Notice another event with 'Boppy'.

The Wood County fair was also a good time. We spent our time in the animal barns. Luckily Elise was content with riding in her stroller as it was a bit muddy and I was freaked out about all the poop that Elise would have absentmindedly stepped in.
With all the walking we've been doing around town, it was time to upgrade shoes. Guess who picked these ones out? Obviously someone who likes bling. Hopefully this will hold us over until cooler months arrive.
Last but not least, Happy Birthday to Garth who turned 13. He's still a puppy at heart. Boy, look how handsome he is in his party hat!
We wish these summer days could go on forever!
