I Wanna Hold Your Hand

Cecilia and Hadley catching up with Daddy after work- 3 months
The party continues at the Kaiser household... as you can imagine.

It must be springtime when Wacky Wednesday rolls around at preschool. Elise was supposed to wear a 'wacky' mismatched outfit to school. When the time came to pick out an outfit, Elise told me that she didn't have any wacky outfits. It dawned on me that this outfit was deemed perfectly acceptable for her to wear in public... minus the light-up Rudolph nose. I guess fashionistas have a different eye than I do. For instance, Elise is wearing her green cape to Hip Hop Peeps right now with Daddy.
Cecilia and Hadley- 3 months old
The girls have just recently noticed each other. Granted they only notice each other when you place them right next to each other-- they don't yet seek the other out. Just yesterday they spent 10 minutes smiling and cooing at each other other. Then something interesting happened. Cecilia purposefully grabbed Hadley hand. They have just learned to grab things- so it made the deliberate hand holding that much sweeter and innocent.
 Going for the grab...

PS... Shh. Don't jinx me but both girls slept all night last night! The night looked like this:

9:45- Final Feeding
10:30- Bedtime
4:10- I briefly wake up. Look at the clock and smile... I go back to sleep Zzzzz
5:56- I wake up and make coffee
6:15- Hadley gets up. Jeff gets them both up and we start our day.

Glorious! Now I just need a month of this and I might start to lose the dark circles under my eyes!

Enjoying Spring... but Sick Again!

Come on spring! We need you badly. We are ready to get out and play... rid our house of the winter blues. We need to open windows and get some fresh air!

Between bouts of cold and rain, Elise has been enjoying riding her new bicycle in the cul-de-sac. We have yet to consistently master the breaks so our bike trips away from home are limited. Of course riding with a pink sequence jacket allows one to ride extra fast.

While Elise is riding, the girls get pushed around in their stroller. I wonder what the neighbors think of when they see all of us doing laps!

Jeff and I also recently braved taking the gang out to dinner alone... it's a bit nerve wracking to be outnumbered in public but our first go at it (Fifth Street Pub for pizza) was a success and wasn't worth all the stress and anxiety that we thought it would be. Both babies fell asleep and magically woke up once we finished dessert.

Best pizza-- we love the wood burning oven!
We were lucky to get to eat with a 'real' princess.
Cecilia 12 weeks at naptime
I recently succeeded in getting Cecilia to sleep all night long (10:30-7:15)... five days in a row! Hadley had also shown signs of moving in that direction as well-- consistently sleeping until 3 or 4am. I thought I was home free and secretly started loving evenings as I knew I would get some uninterrupted sleep. While I can usually squeeze 5 hours of sleep in each day, it's definitely not restful when it's only an hour here and there. Mama needs her REMs! So, when I could sleep 4-5 hours at a time, I thought I was in heaven. I was also a 'nicer' person to be around during the days too. Ha ha!

However, we've had another bout of colds come through our house that hit everyone except for me (knock on wood). So, all my sleeping angels are once again up again at all times throughout the night. For instance, I fed Hadley 2x last night (in addition to an hour of rocking to get her back to sleep with a stuffy nose) and Cecilia 1x. Of course the girls aren't coordinating their feeding times either... rats. I pray that once they are on the mend, we can get back to where we were. Then I will tackle napping-- yikes! I remember all this was hard with Elise but twins are definitely double the work.

Easter 2013

We hosted Easter at our house this year. In addition to the usual gang for holiday get togethers (Grandma, Grandpa, Nana, Pops, Aunt Amy, Uncle Chris and Uncle Rik), Aunt Dawn and Uncle Steve flew in from Maryland with their dog Jules. They were present for decorating Easter eggs- a yearly tradition that always results in myself being crowned 'Best Egg Decorator of the Year'. Ok, so maybe I don't always win....

In order to sway judges in his favor, Jeff attempted
to make a Polish flag on his egg.
Bunny ears weren't required but were recommended.

Of course the Easter bunny had brought Elise a basket and hid eggs in the living room. The eggs were filled with pennies (a favorite!). Once the hunt was over, Elise insisted they be re-filled and hid again.
Hunting in pajamas and a homemade crown!
Counting the loot with daddy
Everyone contributed to the brunch. We had so much food-- ham, turkey, quiche, kielbasa with sauerkraut, deviled eggs, fruit kabobs, vegetables, bread, cupcakes ... just to name a few!

Much to our surprise, the Easter bunny came! He passed out chocolate bunnies for everyone and baby wipes for Cecilia and Hadley.

Elise also got a white bunny that sang 'Peter Cottontail'. I'd like to personally thank the Easter Bunny for contributing yet another singing animal to our house. Elise loves them so. However, Mommy and Daddy love it when the batteries die and are deemed 'broken'.
Choreographing a dance with her new bunny.

Silly-faced Elise and Hadley ham it up.
