Colds... again!

Elise sporting another runny nose...
Can you believe that we have another round of summer colds? The twins just got over their last colds on the 4th of July! But at least everyone is in good spirits!

Twin Conversations

Hadley: 'Hey you with the bald head. Are you using that book? Alright then... thank you very much.'

Finally the girls are starting to notice each other... and each other's toys. It's super cute and sweet to watch. So far no one is upset when things are swiped from each other. They are more amazed that the little thing next to them can do such things! Today Cecilia grabbed Hadley's ear. That ended in some crying but it did look like it hurt!

We are officially six months old. The girls are finally starting to sit on their own (with someone nearby in case a face plant occurs).  I can't wait to plunk them down on their own! We are getting close!

New Hair!

Elise just got a new summer hairdo-- We all think it's completely cute and love it! Perfect for these 90 degree days!

Fourth of July

We had a nice July 4th at home. The Hebeka family came over after dinner for an evening of festivities- swimming and fireworks.
Elise was extra excited as it was the first year we had let her stay up for fireworks. We never thought she was old enough to make it until 11 or 12 at night but being that it was the eve of her 4.5 year birthday, it was a special occasion.
Prior to the fireworks we roasted smores and the kids ran around collecting lightening bugs. That was probably more thrilling than actual fireworks for our bug girl.

It was a fabulously long fun evening. Elise is already talking about next year. The fireworks were amazing as it's always fun to watch through a child's eyes. Magical. I imagine though that it will be another four years until the twins are invited to join us... July 4th is only for big kids!

See ya June!

Where did June go? The weather has been unseasonably cool and extra rainy but we've been busy, busy busy!
Cecilia and Hadley- 5.5 months

The girls have been loving their food! We are currently giving the girls 2 meals a day of food and they don't appear to be missing their bottles at all. It can be a bit crazy feeding the babies alone if they are both are starving as you can't spoon the food in fast enough between them both! It probably is comical to watch as the 'spooner' is moving at double time!
Cecilia gives bananas a thumbs up!

My sister-in-law brought cousins Amelie and Walden in for an Ohio visit. It was the first time she had met the twins, and our first time meeting Walden. Unfortunately both Jeff and my brother had to work and missed the get together.
Elise, Hadley, Walden, Amelie, and Cecilia
The cousins had a blast together-- swimming and playing outside. It was nice to see Walden crawling around. He looks so much like my brother that it's amazing. We so appreciate that Rachel was able to bring the gang to us for the visit as it's difficult for us to travel with the babies right now (slave to the naps!). I wish that they lived closer so we could get together more often.

Elise and I have planted another vegetable garden this year. It's obviously not as ambitious as last year's project, but should still have lots of bounty. It's the first year we are trying to grow pumpkins. I'm skeptical they will turn out as my watermelons were such a bust last year. We also have grown a new variety in our tomato section-- the elusive retriever plant!!

Hadley's face says it all-- a summer cold has hit the babies and hard. We've been dealing with snotty noses and coughs for over the past week. The other day we lost power from a huge storm for the entire night. It was the height of snot and coughing-- and the babies slept poorly. I spent most of the night running in and out- rocking and soothing the girls with my flashlight in hand. It will be nice when they are totally well and back to sleeping 7pm to 7am without crying out for me!

Elise's first library card
The Way public library heard that Elise was turning 4.5 years old and invited her to apply for her first library card (ok-- maybe that's a slight exaggeration!). Jeff took Elise the other rainy day to pick up her new card. She was so excited! Her first book she checked out-- a chapter book about fairies by Daisy Meadows.

Hadley is now rolling over from her back to her tummy. While Cecilia has rolled (once) from her stomach to her back, Hadley has mastered her rolling so well that she can cross the room in a matter of a minute or two. We consciously put her in her crib on the far right knowing that by morning, or sooner, she will travel to the left side-- needing to be 'reset' to the opposite side. This has caused a disruption on nightly sleeping as she can quickly get stuck.

And finally.... just a little video with giggling babies-- who doesn't need a smile?! By the way, at least someone thinks I'm funny!
